This looks a tight but informative Class 5 where the market and the HRB TimeWise ratings align strongly around Eastern Veil and Lady Milton, which is exactly the profile we want given the historical edge held by the top two ranked runners.

Eastern Veil is the clear Rank 1 on HRB (338.0) and brings the strongest overall profile. Andrew Balding’s filly still looked raw when winning here over 8.5f and her Kempton third reads very well in context. Timeform noted she may well have won with a clearer passage, and the Comment Shaper flags her as a reliable mid-division runner with a strong late finish. In a race lacking a natural front-runner, that finishing kick could prove decisive if Oisin Murphy keeps her within striking distance. Her figures for Horses, Speed and Today are all notably strong, and she remains open to improvement now entering handicaps.

The obvious danger is Lady Milton, the HRB Rank 2. She arrives seeking a four-timer after an authoritative Lingfield success over 1¼m. Comment Shaper also marks her down as a strong finisher and, importantly, she is one of the few likely prominent racers in a contest where Timeform expects a very weak pace. That tactical edge is significant around Wolverhampton. Jonathan Portman’s yard is going well and she appears uncomplicated and progressive.

Of the others, Kilkenny Warrior has enough ability to threaten if staying this longer trip, but both Timeform and pedigree concerns raise doubts late on. Silky Lass is interesting from a closing perspective but may again find herself with too much to do in a steadily-run affair. Squiffy is unexposed after only two starts, though the long absence and opening mark temper enthusiasm.

The pace setup slightly favours Lady Milton tactically, but Eastern Veil has the strongest overall ratings profile, the best upside and the strongest handicapping angle.
