5.40 Killarney – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Race

Selection: GLYFADA (IRE)

This small-field fillies’ contest looks likely to revolve around the top two in the HRB TimeWise Master ratings, and historically that is exactly where most winners emerge in non-handicaps. Glyfada is ranked HRB Rank 2, narrowly behind Mo Mhuirin on totals, but the deeper profile strongly favours the Donnacha O’Brien filly.

Glyfada brings the best recent form into the race after improving from a promising Curragh debut second on heavy ground to win nicely at Naas over 10.4f. The manner of that success suggested she is still learning and progressing. Her 205.4 HRS figure is the strongest in the field and she also scores highly on speed and overall recent performance metrics. Timeform’s verdict is very positive, describing her as a “useful prospect” and “the one to beat”.

The expected race shape also looks ideal. Comment Shaper and Timeform both point towards a steadily-run contest with limited pace pressure. Glyfada is predicted to race prominently, which is often advantageous at Killarney in tactical races. Timeform specifically notes that the likely pace scenario should assist her.

Mo Mhuirin heads the HRB ratings but achieved her debut win at Dundalk in a slowly-run race and only scraped home by a neck at 50/1. She clearly has upside but lacks the proven turf form and experience Glyfada possesses. What About Us is respected as the probable lone front runner and could be dangerous if allowed an uncontested lead, especially representing the Joseph O’Brien yard, but she still has to prove herself on turf after two solid AW runs.

Flawless Fusion is an interesting late finisher according to Comment Shaper, though the six-month absence and lack of a recent run temper confidence.

Verdict

GLYFADA sets the standard on form, profile, tactical setup and progression potential.
