This looks a tight little staying handicap on paper, but the HRB TimeWise Master ratings again point strongly towards the top two in the market, and historically that is where the majority of winners come from in races of this nature.

Main Selection – TWILIGHT MOON

Twilight Moon is the clear Rank 1 on HRB ratings with a standout total of 325.5, and importantly she combines that with the strongest recent figures and a very solid course profile. Marcus Tregoning’s filly has won her last two starts over this C&D and the latest success suggested there was still a little in hand despite only scoring by 1¼ lengths.

The Comment Shaper data is also highly encouraging. She profiles as a strong late finisher in a race where there looks only one confirmed front runner. Although Timeform suggest a potentially steady pace may not be ideal, the overall shape still carries a “Strong Shape” rating with moderate collapse risk, which should allow her stamina to come into play late on.

Her behavioural pattern is notably consistent compared with rivals, and she arrives in form, proven at the track, and still feasibly treated from only 3 lb higher. Rob Hornby should be able to slot her into midfield before delivering her late.

Main Danger – VICTORS SPIRIT

Victors Spirit is the obvious saver. HRB Rank 2, progressive, and still lightly raced on the Flat. The hood has transformed him and his Lingfield second over shorter reads well. Stepping back up in trip looks a positive.

Others

Yaa Min has solid C&D credentials and strong finishing data but can race inconsistently. Lightning Tiger is interesting with the first-time hood and possible tactical advantage if controlling the pace, though his HRB rank is lower than ideal.

Verdict

The race sets up best for TWILIGHT MOON, who brings the strongest blend of ratings, current form, track suitability and finishing profile.
