2.40 Yarmouth – Bodhi Solutions Handicap (5f)
This looks a fascinating Class 3 sprint with a very strong projected pace collapse according to Comment Shaper. Three confirmed front runners and four prominent racers suggest the early fractions could be fierce on quick ground, which is highly relevant over Yarmouth’s sharp 5f.
The HRB TimeWise figures immediately point towards Kinswoman as the standout. She is a clear Rank 1 on 382.8, comfortably ahead of Almaty Star and Rocking Ends, and the model historically performs very strongly with top-ranked runners in these non-handicap style sprint setups. Her profile is progressive, her Haydock win worked out well, and Timeform clearly expect further improvement from the Haggas filly this season.
However, there is an important tactical concern. Comment Shaper identifies an “Extreme” pace and specifically notes that prominent racers may lose their usual edge. Kinswoman’s recent wins came either making all or racing prominently, and after 208 days off she may not get the smooth lead she enjoyed last autumn. With Grandlad, Almaty Star and Twilight Fun all wanting the front, this race could become uncomfortable for pace horses late on.
That brings Rocking Ends firmly into the equation. Ranked 3 on HRB but carrying the strongest late-finisher indicators in Comment Shaper, he looks ideally suited if the leaders overcook things. His previous C&D form is excellent, and Yarmouth’s long straight can reward closers when the pace collapses. The concern is his below-par Bahrain runs and the absence since February.
Almaty Star is respected as Rank 2 and arrives fit after a C&D success, but the pace map may compromise him badly from stall 13.
After reassessing the race shape against the ratings bias, Kinswoman still narrowly remains the selection because of the strength of the HRB edge, proven progression and superior overall profile. Rocking Ends appeals most as the danger at the prices if the race collapses late.
Selection: Kinswoman
