14:20 Haydock – William Hill Silver Bowl Handicap🏇⤵️👇

·

1m37y, Class 2 Heritage Handicap, 3yo, turf, good to soft. 14 runners after non-runners.

Haydock’s mile should be fair, but in a big field on good to soft, tactical position matters. Pace looks likely from Crest Of Fire, with several that can race handy; Laureate Crown is the clear hold-up risk and will need gaps. Draw does not look decisive, though very wide stalls must avoid being posted deep; Jamestown and Sovereign Ocean have that issue.

Main view

Langstone looks the right favourite-type on profile: gelded, progressive, already effective on good to soft, and now makes handicap debut from a mark that may underrate him. The step up to 1m should suit.

Princling is a major danger. His Newmarket novice second has worked out strongly and his opening mark looks workable, but his best current evidence is on good/good to firm rather than slower ground.

Crest Of Fire is solid: made a strong handicap debut at Doncaster on good to soft and then bolted up at Southwell. He has the pace, ground and trip profile for this.

Astrazar is interesting at bigger value: heavy-ground winner, York 7f winner, denied a run on reappearance, and this 1m move makes sense.

Runner marks

Langstone – 8.5/10 P
Promising, unexposed, two from two this year, proven on good to soft, strong handicap debut angle.

Princling – 8/10 P
Unexposed and potentially well treated; slight ground query.

Crest Of Fire – 8/10 p
Good-to-soft form, likely pace angle, well treated if Southwell win reflects improvement.

Astrazar – 7.5/10 p
Better than Newbury return, strong 1m case, handles testing ground.

Jamestown – 7/10 P
Lightly raced Irish runner; Naas handicap form working out, but wide draw.

Laureate Crown – 7/10 p
Progressive and well rated, but hold-up style and slower-ground doubt temper confidence.

Blue Courvoisier – 6.5/10 p
Consistent and fit, but needs another step forward.

Synners Kid – 6.5/10
Slow-ground 1m winner; tongue-tie back on; not dismissed.

Sir Albert – 6/10
Classy enough and handles heavy, but top weight asks plenty.

Penny Time – 6/10 P
Unexposed AW type making turf/handicap debut; market watch.

Sovereign Ocean – 5.5/10 p
Open to progress but 148-day break and wide draw are concerns.

Suspended Sentence – 5.5/10
Handles soft and has Listed form, but mark looks tough enough.

Vincenzo Peruggia – 5/10
Musselburgh second gives hope, but Newmarket run was a backward step.

Special Dividend – 5/10 P
Potential remains after gelding/first-time tongue-tie, but 240-day absence and 1m query.

Non-runners: Lighting Thunder, St Anton, Winding Stream.
