Chris Barnett Memorial Handicap Div II, Class 4, 4yo+, 5f10y, Good, 9 runners
No non-runners shown. Each-way terms apply with 9 runners.
Pace and draw
Low draws look helpful over Sandown’s 5f, especially if a runner can hold a position. Marching Mac in stall 1 and Lequinto in stall 2 are favoured on layout. Fantasy Master has the worst draw in 9 despite being quick from the gates. Pace should be honest, with several sharp 5f/6f types; hold-up runners may need luck.
Main contenders
Marching Mac is strongly suited: drawn 1, down 3lb from a good Class 2 Windsor third, and versatile tactically. The quick return is a positive if he has come out of Monday well.
Nogo’s Dream p is reliable, in form, handles different ground, and has a workable draw in 4. Solid rather than spectacular.
Cayman Tai arrives in form and is well drawn in 3. He is up in grade but still looks competitive after a clear Southwell win and a good Chepstow second.
Dangers and outsiders
Betties Bay p is very progressive and 3lb well-in, but her improvement has been at 6f and faster ground.
Fantasy Master p has a good form chance, but stall 9 is a major negative.
Em Four has ability but may prefer AW or quicker turf than good if any ease remains.
Kiss And Run is closely tied with Lequinto but needs to keep straight under pressure.
Runner scores
Marching Mac – 8.5/10 Proven, well drawn, class drop, quick return angle.
Nogo’s Dream p – 8/10 Solid, versatile, in form, fair draw.
Cayman Tai – 7.5/10 In form, well drawn, but up in class.
Betties Bay p – 7/10 Progressive and well-in, but 5f/good asks a question.
Fantasy Master p – 6.5/10 Capable, but wide draw hurts.
Lequinto – 6.5/10 Course winner, good draw, but usually Class 5.
Em Four – 6/10 Ratings respected, but conditions not ideal.
Kiss And Run – 6/10 Chance on Windsor form, temperament/hanging risk.
Carbine Harvester – 4.5/10 Better at 6f/AW, high draw, vulnerable.
