Runners: 12
Race shape, pace and draw
York’s straight 6f course can favour horses racing prominently when the ground is good, although much depends on where the pace develops.
Likely pace angles:
Splish Splash – habitual front-runner/prominent racer.
Cotai Belle – usually races handily.
Beaujolais Nouveau – sat close to the pace when winning at Ripon.
Siouxpersonic – generally races prominently.
Cool Molly – can race handily.
There looks to be enough pace to ensure a genuinely-run sprint without it becoming an all-out burn-up.
Draw:
Pace is spread across the track, with low (Splish Splash 3, Shallow 2), middle (Beaujolais Nouveau 4) and higher numbers (Siouxpersonic 10, Rhyme Dust 11).
No obvious draw bias likely on good ground unless one side becomes favoured during the meeting.
Pace/draw interaction looks fairly neutral.

Have we weighed the race up correctly?
A few factors deserve extra emphasis:
1. York course form and proven Class 2 ability matter more than usual in a competitive sprint handicap.
2. Unexposed 3yos may have more improvement than exposed older handicappers.
3. Handicap debut/early handicap runs are significant here.
4. Harry Vigors’ 7lb claim on Rhyme Dust is a major factor and effectively brings her in very well treated.
5. Dandana returns from 265 days off — market strength should be monitored.
6. No obvious non-runner concerns at declaration stage, though Cool Molly was also engaged at Chester.

Strongest Contenders
Bintaryana (P)
Returned from a break with a convincing Nottingham maiden win before twice finishing second when expected to win. She still looked inexperienced and gave the impression there is more to come. The return to 6f should suit and her RPR of 97 is one of the strongest recent figures in the field.
Rhyme Dust
Ran to Listed level last season and now drops back into handicap company after two tough Listed assignments. Harry Vigors removes 7lb and that could prove decisive. Her Ayr Listed third produced an excellent RPR of 97.
Dandana (P)
The most interesting runner in the race. Fourth in the Lowther over this course and distance last summer. The soft-ground flop at Ayr is easy to forgive. If fully tuned after 265 days off she possesses the class to win off 93.
Beaujolais Nouveau (p)
Produced a career best at Ripon when first-time cheekpieces worked well. The 7lb rise is fair rather than lenient but she remains progressive and arrives in form.

Main Dangers
Splish Splash (p)
Useful juvenile form including a Listed third at Newmarket. Her first two runs of 2026 were disappointing but she now drops significantly in class. If returning to last year’s level she becomes dangerous.
Cotai Belle
Runner-up to Beaujolais Nouveau at Ripon and now 6lb better off. Consistent enough but may lack the scope of some rivals.
Lady Roxby
York can suit her style and she has several solid handicap efforts at this level. Likely to run her race but perhaps vulnerable to improvers.
—
Interesting Outsiders
Siouxpersonic (p)
Seasonal/stable debut second at Ripon reads well. Cheekpieces replace the hood and she remains lightly raced.
Eternal Sunshine
Former Portland Handicap winner. Current form is poor but she’s now becoming well handicapped. Hood applied and could outrun big odds if the headgear helps.

Hold-up Horses Needing Luck
Rhyme Dust
Dandana
Bintaryana
All possess strong finishing kicks but may require gaps at the right time in a 12-runner straight-course handicap.
—
Trainer Notes
Ralph Beckett regularly excels with fillies in quality handicaps.
Simon & Ed Crisford have an excellent record placing lightly-raced fillies.
William Knight is operating at a strong strike rate and Bintaryana fits the profile of an improving handicapper.

All have realistic place claims and profiles that could see them outperform market expectations.

Summary
This looks a strong Class 2 sprint where the unexposed 3yos meet some battle-hardened older fillies. Bintaryana and Dandana have the strongest upside, but both still need to prove themselves in a competitive handicap. Rhyme Dust has already shown Listed-level ability, is back in the right grade and receives a potentially decisive 7lb claim.
Market support for Dandana after her long absence would be notable. Likewise, any confidence behind Bintaryana would suggest connections expect further improvement.

Win
Rhyme Dust – best combination of proven class, handicap conditions and useful claim.
Saver / Each-Way
Splish Splash – juvenile Listed form stands out in this company and the drop in grade could spark a revival.
Next Best
Bintaryana – most likely improver and a major threat if progressing again over 6f.
