16:22 Salisbury – 1m2f Class 5 Handicap (Good to Soft)

·

10 runners | Confined handicap (no turf win since Nov 2025)

Race Snapshot

A weak Class 5 where several are long-standing losers or out of form. The interesting angles are:

Primo Lara: revived by first-time blinkers last run.

Huggable: low-mileage 4yo back at her optimum trip.

Suhub: encouraging stable debut and potentially more to come for James Owen.

King’s Castle: veteran who still retains ability.

No obvious standout, which makes price sensitivity important.

Likely Race Shape

There is very little confirmed pace on paper.

Possible forward-goers:

Primo Lara could be ridden positively from stall 5.

King’s Castle has raced handily in some of his better efforts.

Criminal may be forced to be prominent from stall 2.

A steadily-run race is quite possible, making tactical position important. Horses needing a strong pace may find themselves vulnerable.

Runner-by-Runner Notes

1. Criminal (OR 70)

Maiden after plenty of chances.

Second at Lingfield in April showed he remains capable at this level.

Poor Kempton run only four days ago raises questions.

Talented enough to figure but difficult to trust.

Memory Tag: Capable Class 5 performer but unreliable finisher.

2. Primo Lara (OR 76)

Formerly competitive from much higher marks.

First-time blinkers transformed him at Nottingham when beaten only a neck.

Runs here effectively 4lb higher than the official conditions suggest but still looks fairly treated.

If blinkers work again, he’s a major player.

Memory Tag: Blinkers revived him; dangerous around 10f on turf.

3. Huggable (OR 68)

Lightly raced 4yo.

Form figures over 1m2f read 1-2-2.

Seasonal return over shorter looked a prep run.

Billy Loughnane booked.

Has more upside than most rivals.

Memory Tag: Wants 10f; still open to improvement.

4. Suhub (OR 69)

Improved effort on stable debut for James Owen.

Shaped as though she can build on that Wolverhampton second.

New trainer has excellent strike-rate.

Not fully exposed at this trip.

Memory Tag: Stable debut promise; monitor second run for yard.

5. King’s Castle (OR 67)

Nine-year-old but retains enthusiasm.

Excellent return when second at Lingfield.

Proven at trip and ground.

Consistent profile compared with many here.

Memory Tag: Veteran handicapper who remains competitive around 10-12f.

6. Mighty Quiet (OR 67)

Returns to preferred 10f after failing to see out 12f.

Won twice at this sort of level.

Capable if reproducing autumn form.

Not badly handicapped.

Memory Tag: Better at 10f than further.

7. Sixfiveseven (OR 66)

Gradually returning to form after absence.

Latest run over 1m was respectable.

Not obvious that this step back to 10f is ideal.

More place than win appeal.

Memory Tag: Best watched for another drop in mark.

8. Redbud Sixteen (OR 70)

Lightly raced.

Handicap debut flop.

Rossa Ryan notable booking.

Market would be informative.

Memory Tag: Unexposed but needs major improvement.

9. Castle Quarter

Returning to the Flat after years away.

Modest recent hurdle form.

Hard to recommend.

Memory Tag: Needs dramatic revival.

10. Somkiyr

Little encouragement from British form.

Huge prices throughout recent starts.

Difficult to support.

Memory Tag: Requires market-led resurgence.

Upgrade List

Strong Upgrade

Huggable – ideal trip, low mileage, likely fitter for comeback.

Primo Lara – blinkers sparked revival; still capable from current mark.

Smaller Upgrade

Suhub – positive stable debut, potential second-run improvement.

King’s Castle – veteran but showed plenty remains.

Downgrade List

Criminal – inconsistent and still a maiden.

Sixfiveseven – trip concerns.

Castle Quarter – Flat absence.

Somkiyr – weak recent evidence.

Memory Tags

Primo Lara – Blinkers + 10f turf.

Huggable – Improving 10f filly.

Suhub – Follow second run for Owen.

King’s Castle – Veteran thrives in weaker Class 5s.

Mighty Quiet – 10f specialist, avoid further.

Shortlist

1. Huggable

2. Primo Lara

3. Suhub

4. King’s Castle

5. Mighty Quiet

Betting Verdict

Most Likely Winner: Primo Lara

The Nottingham run was comfortably the strongest recent piece of form in the race, and retained blinkers could unlock another good effort.

Best Value Angle: Huggable

She’s the runner with the most scope to improve beyond her mark. Her 10f profile is notably stronger than her overall form figures suggest, and this race lacks depth.

Each-Way Consideration: King’s Castle if available at 7/1+.

My Tissue (fair odds)

Huggable 7/2

Primo Lara 4/1

Suhub 11/2

King’s Castle 7/1

Mighty Quiet 10/1

Criminal 10/1

Others 20/1+

Betting View: Small win bet Huggable if 4/1 or bigger; otherwise pass or play each-way King’s Castle at a price. This isn’t a race I’d want heavy involvement in due to the modest quality and likely tactical nature.
