17:20 Hamilton – Scottish Racing Supporting #Racingwithpride H’cap (Class 5, 1m½f)

·

The 17:20 at Hamilton is a small-field 3yo handicap where the pace looks the key. Timeform call the pace forecast weak, and that changes the race slightly. This may not be a pure stamina test; it could become a tactical sprint from the home turn.
Whernside remains the most interesting horse. He is still lightly raced, moves into handicaps for the first time, and the return to a mile could bring improvement. His mark of 74 is not obviously lenient, but he has the right profile for better.
Tarmonbarry Kid has the best recent evidence after winning at Doncaster, but the 6lb rise and likely steady pace make him less automatic than the bare form suggests. He is solid, not bombproof.
The overlooked one is Beyond The Bar. His recent form is poor, but his juvenile Redcar win gives him a chance if revived, and the race shape may suit him better than Tarmonbarry Kid. He looks the value danger rather than the safest selection.
Attention Seeker is the notebook horse. He travelled well enough last time to trade much shorter in-running, but he remains tricky and may need a stronger pace than this.
Conclusion
Most likely winner: Whernside
Best value: Beyond The Bar
Notebook horse: Attention Seeker
Betting view: Small stakes only; tactical race, no strong edge.
