Havana Mojito Can Turn The Tables In Brighton’s 4.43
The 4.43 at Brighton, a Class 6 handicap over 7f on good-to-firm ground, looks a race with a very clear form line at its centre. Eight days ago, Dion Baker beat Havana Mojito and Prefer The Sister over this course and distance. That piece of form is likely to define the market again, but the weights suggest the result may not be repeated.
Dion Baker arrives in excellent heart. He has completed a hat-trick since late May, including two wins over this Brighton 7f, and his recent comments show a horse who has learned how to finish his races off after previously looking vulnerable late. He is a genuine pace angle, handles the track, and remains the most obvious danger to all.
The issue is the revised terms. Havana Mojito was beaten only half a length last time and now meets Dion Baker on better terms. He is 4lb better off, and Jack Callan’s 3lb claim strengthens the case further. Drawn low, with proven Brighton form and three previous course wins, Havana Mojito has the right setup to stalk the pace and strike late.
Prefer The Sister also comes out of that same race with credit. She finished third and has run well twice since joining James Owen. Her overall win record, however, is a concern, and she may again find one or two too sharp at the business end.
Of the others, Joycean Way has place claims but remains a maiden after 19 starts and may not be helped by dropping back from longer trips. Starsong is a course winner but has yet to convince over 7f, while Jackson Street has ability but a poor turf profile. Bear To Dream has old Brighton form, though recent efforts suggest she needs a revival.
This should be run at a fair pace, with Dion Baker likely prominent and Havana Mojito getting a useful stalking position. Brighton’s camber and fast ground demand course effectiveness, which is why the key trio appeal more than the rest.
The verdict is that Dion Baker is respected, but Havana Mojito makes more betting sense. The last-race margin was narrow, the weights have swung in his favour, and he has the track profile to capitalise.
