19:00 Windsor: Pace Could Be King In Sprint Series Qualifier
The 19:00 at Windsor is a competitive Class 2 sprint handicap over 6f on good-to-firm ground, but the race may be less complicated than the numbers suggest. The key angle is pace.
Historical Windsor 6f data supplied for the last 400 races shows a clear advantage to front-runners, who have won at an 18.25% strike-rate and returned a positive SP profit. Held-up horses, by contrast, have won just 6.94% of the time. That makes track position central to this race.
The non-runner is Divine Libra, which removes one of the stronger late-running profiles from the field.
Regal Envoy is the obvious pace horse. He arrives in excellent form after two Windsor 5f runs, finishing second before winning last time. He is up 6lb and now returns to 6f, so there are questions, but his ability to race prominently is a major asset at this track and trip.
Fandom looks the most solid all-round candidate. His Royal Ascot run can be forgiven, as that was a much deeper and more chaotic race. Before that he won a Class 2 handicap at Thirsk and ran well at York. He has tactical speed, proven 6f form, and this easier Windsor test should suit.
Invictus Gold is respected after a strong second at Epsom and has the class to be involved, though he may not be as well placed tactically as the main pace horses. Rydale Frosty is another interesting runner, especially as a three-year-old with previous C&D form and a workable weight. He looks overpriced if available around 8/1 or bigger.
The closers are harder to support. Coul Angel, Bolo Neighs, King Of Light and Baldomero all have pieces of form that give them a chance, but their usual run styles are not ideal for Windsor’s 6f setup unless the leaders go too hard.
Verdict
Fandom is the most likely winner, but Regal Envoy is the strongest pace angle. At the prices, Rydale Frosty may be the each-way value.
Selection: Fandom
Main danger: Regal Envoy
Value angle: Rydale Frosty
Fair odds: Fandom 10/3, Regal Envoy 7/2, Rydale Frosty 7/1
