The 3.10 at Doncaster is a sharp 5f Class 3 handicap on good-to-firm ground, and with only seven runners declared, this looks a race where tactical speed, current form and value are all crucial.
Emerald Harmony heads the market after a confidence-boosting win at Thirsk last time, and she is clearly respected. Paul Midgley’s mare has been holding her form well this season and conditions should suit. However, at around 15/8, she looks short enough in a competitive sprint handicap where several rivals have comparable recent figures.
The strongest value angle may be Moulin Booj. George Scott’s six-year-old has been running consistently, finishing third at Windsor before going close again at Brighton. His statistical profile is particularly strong: he has an excellent place record on the going, a solid horse-and-jockey record with Liam Wright, and encouraging trainer track data. With a useful 5lb claim also helping his chance, he looks a major player at a more attractive price.
Dyonisos is another serious contender. He brings the best recent Racing Post Rating into the race and was not beaten far in a tight finish at Hamilton last week. He remains winless since arriving from France, but his recent 5f form gives him every chance of being involved again.
Paddy’s Day has to be respected after finishing second over course and distance last month, but his turf strike-rate is a concern. He is reliable enough to run well, yet he may be vulnerable from a win perspective if one of the less exposed or better-handicapped rivals finds improvement.
Miraculous is interesting back at 5f, although he needs to prove he can reproduce his best away from Chester. Oriental Prince and Mondammej both have historical statistical positives, but their recent turf form leaves them with plenty to prove.
Overall, Emerald Harmony is the most obvious winner, but Moulin Booj makes greater betting appeal at the prices. His consistency, conditions profile and strong place statistics suggest he should be closer to the head of the market.
