The 16:20 at Doncaster is a Class 6 six-furlong handicap on good-to-firm ground, and although Come On Over is the obvious starting point, this is not a race where the favourite should be followed blindly at any price.
David O’Meara’s three-year-old comes here after a strong second over course and distance last week. The returning visor clearly helped, and he is officially 4lb well-in, which makes his claims very solid. He has the strongest recent piece of form in the race and conditions are almost identical, so he deserves his place at the head of the market.
However, the betting angle may sit with Ishe Worth Agamble. His latest run was poor, but the return to Doncaster is a major positive, with a strong course-and-distance record already in the book. Stat Attack also supports him well, highlighting solid place records by days bracket, class, distance and surface. With Jake Dickson claiming 7lb, he looks a live each-way player.
Cosmic Clarets is another with claims. He disappointed as favourite over this course and distance last time but had previously run two solid races. The first-time visor could sharpen him up, and his horse-jockey and distance place statistics are positive. He remains a danger if bouncing back.
Get Up Everybody is reliable enough at this level and has a workable mark, but he does not appeal as strongly from a value perspective. Kings Merchant has some going-related positives but recent form leaves questions to answer.
The outsider to note is Carlton And Co. Her current form is poor, but the visor returns and her historical place stats for the month, trip, class and direction are stronger than her price suggests. At around 33/1, she is not impossible for a small place or each-way interest.
Overall, Come On Over is the most likely winner, but the price may be short enough in a low-grade sprint handicap. The better betting shape is to respect the favourite while siding with Ishe Worth Agamble as the main value play.
Selection: Ishe Worth Agamble each-way
Most likely winner: Come On Over
Best outsider: Carlton And Co
