16:00 Hamilton – Every Race Live On Racing TV Handicap (Class 4) Preview

·

A competitive five-runner handicap brings together several in-form performers over Hamilton’s extended mile, with only a few pounds separating the principals on recent form.

Jannas Journey arrives seeking back-to-back victories after finally getting her head in front at Carlisle earlier this month. Jim Goldie’s mare enjoyed a prolific 2025 campaign, winning seven times, and her latest success suggested she retains plenty of enthusiasm. The concern is whether today’s likely tactical pace will play as much to her strengths, as she was delivered late to overhaul Inspired at Carlisle and may not get the same race setup here.

Kaleido has steadily rediscovered his form since joining David O’Meara and looks a major player after consecutive runner-up efforts. His latest second came over this course and distance just five days ago, where he travelled well throughout before finding one too strong. Drawn in stall one and partnered by Daniel Tudhope, he looks ideally positioned to enjoy a prominent trip in what could be a steadily run contest.

Inspired has been one of the most consistent horses in the field this season. A clear second behind Jannas Journey at Carlisle, he arguably has fewer questions to answer than most and should again be involved at the finish. The step up from a mile looks unlikely to pose any issue and his reliable profile makes him a solid contender.

The most interesting outsider could be Break The Bank. Formerly with Andrew Balding, he shaped with considerable promise when second at Ayr on his latest start, suggesting he is quickly returning to the level that once saw him compete effectively in stronger handicaps. If building on that performance, he has the potential to outrun his odds.

Sanafi Zabeel is another course-and-distance winner and cannot be dismissed entirely. However, he may need a career-best effort to reverse recent form with Kaleido and the race may not unfold ideally for him from a tactical perspective.

Verdict

This looks likely to be decided by race position and tactical speed rather than outright stamina. Kaleido could be the horse best suited by the expected race shape, particularly from his inside draw, and is narrowly preferred to gain a deserved return to winning ways. Jannas Journey remains the principal danger following her Carlisle success, while Break The Bank appeals as the value alternative if taking another step forward from his encouraging Ayr comeback.

Predicted 1-2-3

1. Kaleido
2. Jannas Journey
3. Inspired

Best Value: Break The Bank
Race Type: Tactical handicap where track position could prove decisive.
