Taylormade Lad has strong claims if rediscovering the form that saw him win on fast ground last summer. He has returned several solid efforts this season, drops back into a weaker grade and races from a mark he has already shown he can win from, making him a major player.

Course specialist Glasses Up USA arrives in winning form after landing his twelfth Ayr success last week. Although dropping back markedly in trip, he remains effectively well treated under the race conditions and another bold front-running effort would come as no surprise.

The biggest unknown is Motawaared, who drops into a 0-60 handicap for the first time following wind surgery. His recent form leaves questions to answer, but his peak ratings suggest he has the ability to feature if the operation has had the desired effect.

For each-way players, Wadacre Geisha is easy to forgive for a below-par latest run. Earlier runner-up efforts suggest she remains fairly treated, and as a lightly raced three-year-old she still has the scope to improve.

With no obvious dominant force and only a moderate early pace expected, tactical positioning could prove crucial. Those racing prominently without doing too much too soon may hold the advantage, although a progressive finisher such as Phantom Shadow looks ideally equipped to strike at the business end.
