The 15:00 at Worcester looks to revolve around Iwanttobreakfree, who makes his hurdling debut after showing plenty of promise in an Irish point and a recent Uttoxeter bumper. His latest RPR of 100 is the strongest recent figure in the field and, with Dan and Harry Skelton in his corner, he brings the most obvious combination of raw ability and improvement potential. The main question is whether he can transfer that promise cleanly to hurdles at the first attempt.
Provision sets the standard among those with established hurdle form. He has finished third on both of his latest starts and already has course-and-distance experience, so he should run his race again. However, his recent hurdle figures have plateaued around the mid-80s, which leaves him vulnerable to a less exposed rival with greater scope.
Trackman is the interesting one at a much bigger price. His latest fifth over this course and distance was worth an RPR of 87, putting him very close to Provision on known hurdle ability. He remains a maiden and is not guaranteed to improve, but the market appears to have underestimated how competitive his best recent form makes him in this company.
Arcon also has claims on the pick of his form. A dual Flat winner, he has shown enough over hurdles to suggest he can be involved, although he has yet to produce the improvement his background hints at. He may prove more effective once handicapping.
Faithful Guardian is another with respectable bumper form, but he was well held on his hurdling debut over this course and distance. He is capable of stepping forward from that experience, though he needs to do so to justify his relatively short price.
Not Now is a riskier contender but could outrun his odds. His first hurdle start came over 2m4f, where he shaped poorly, and the return to 2m in a weaker race may suit. His previous bumper form suggests he has more ability than he showed that day.
The likely pace appears steady rather than strong, with no confirmed front-runner in the field. That could place extra emphasis on tactical position and jumping fluency, which should favour a horse able to race prominently without pulling too hard.
Iwanttobreakfree is the most likely winner if he jumps adequately, with Provision the solid form option. Trackman looks the best value at a bigger price, while Not Now is the most dangerous outsider if the drop back in trip sparks improvement.
